If you have lost or found a pet:
- Contact the BCHS at (812) 988-7362 immediately.
- Contact surrounding counties' shelters every few days.
- Place an ad in the local newspaper.
- Contact your neighbors to see if they have seen the lost pet or know who
owns the found pet.
- Place a picture and current description of the pet in local businesses,
such as grocery stores, gas stations, veterinary clinics, etc.
- Place flyers with the pet's picture at eye level on streets surrounding
the area where the pet was lost or found.
- Give the mail person, UPS, & Federal Express drivers the flyer.
- If your pet is lost, place an item of clothing with your scent on it where
the pet was last seen. Check the spot often.
- Register the lost or found pet at www.Petfinder.org.
- Keep an answering machine on at all times.
- Don't give up. The pet is a family member.
- Get the community involved. The more people who know of the
situation, the more that can help.
The BCHS keeps a list of lost and found pets and has helped dozens of
families reunite with their pet. Please contact us as soon as your pet is
missing or when you've found a pet so that we can facilitate the process.
