Our shelter is located 35 minutes from the IU campus and not accessible via bus. We do have virtual opportunities if you are not able to travel.

Check all of the times you are available to volunteer. The shelter is open for volunteers from 9:00-5:00. Some volunteer work is done in the evenings or at home.

By typing your full name in the box below, you are providing an electronic signature indicating you have read and accept the following Waiver and Release of Liability: I have volunteered to help at the Brown County Humane Society, and in doing so I accept and acknowledge that there are certain risks involved in being at the premises, and in working with the animals. Those risks include, but are not limited to, the following: Behavior issues with domestic animals – while the majority of domestic animals are well behaved, there are always outliers and I accept the fact that a domestic animal is capable of inflicting serious personal injury, even death, as well as extensive property damage, and I acknowledge this fact and agree to work with the domestic animals anyway. I also understand that domestic animals may carry zoonotic disease which can be transferred to humans and other animals through direct and indirect contact, and I knowingly accept this risk. Other risks may arise as a result of my volunteer activities at the Brown County Humane Society, and I accept those risks even though I may not be aware of them at this time. I agree to knowingly assume all risks of volunteering at the Brown County Humane Society, whether or not known, and I agree to assume those risks and to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the Brown County Humane Society and/or its officers, directors, supervisors, employees, and well as other volunteers for any and all personal injury and property damages resulting from my volunteer work.*
